Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Köroğlu was born in İzmir. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1982; held teaching positions in psychiatry at Gazi and Kocaeli universities and completed a fellowship in clinical psychiatry and sleep disorders at Baylor College of Medicine, USA. He became Associate Professor in 1991 and Professor at age 39.
He is founder and chair of the board of Boylam Psychiatry Hospital and Boylam AMATEM; he sees patients at the Ankara Kavaklıdere, Istanbul Levent and Ataşehir centres. He led the DSM-5 Turkish translation and SCID-5 validation study and is editor-in-chief of the Psychiatry Textbook and Psychotherapy Methods. He was selected as International Fellow by the American Psychiatric Association.
